What is e-liquids?
E-liquids (or vape juice) is an essential part of vaping. It is the liquid that is heated and turned into vapour for users to then inhale providing nicotine satisfaction. E-liquids come in many flavors, sizes and nicotine strengths.
What is the difference in VG/PG?
With a large range of e-liquids to choose from, you will come to notice that some e-liquids will be thicker than others. This is because of the amount of Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) that is used to making these e-liquids. In short, the higher the VG content the thicker the liquid will be - it also accounts for how smooth the ‘throat hit’ will be and also the amount of vapour that will be produced.
PG is the opposite; The higher the PG, the thinner your e-liquid will be. Furthermore, the ‘throat hit’ will also increase as well and the vapour production won’t be as much.
A majority of vaping device accepts all liquids, however, keep in mind that some manufacturers will recommend a certain ratio which can be usually found in the user manual of the device.
What is inside e-liquids?
There are mainly 5 different ingredients that are used to make any e-liquids: Vegetable Glycerin (VG), Propylene Glycol (PG), Sweetener, Flavoring(s) and Nicotine. The first two ingredients are what creates the vapour and also provide the throat hit associated with smoking cigarettes; While the last three ingredients are mainly used but are not essential in some mixture.

Freebase nicotine
The most common and largely available form of e-liquid is freebase nicotine. It is compatible which all types of devices out there in the market and provides a great taste and nicotine satisfaction. Freebase e-liquids are commonly available from 0mg to 12mg but can go up to 24mg unlike its nicotine salt counterpart. However, with each increase in nicotine strength means that the “throat hit” will increase accordingly which is why most users start off around 12mg (depending on how much they smoke and the device they use) and work their way down from there.
Nicotine salt
The biggest difference between nicotine salt and freebase is the level of nicotine in each mL of e-liquid. Nicotine salt contains at least twice as much as nicotine ranging anywhere from 20mg to 60mg. It is however not to be used with high powered devices and is only suitable for low powered devices such as “pod systems”. The main thing that sets this apart from freebase is that pairing this with the proper device means you can get instance nicotine satisfaction without having to carry a large device.
